Two Atomic Bombs
In this year, the merciless U.S., dropped two atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. -
Hirohito
Emperor Hirohito was a god at this time, but when he said that they would surrender, he was no more. He couldn't bear to watch his country battle anymore so he had to stop them from fighting. he was no longer emperor and was dethroned. -
Losing the war
General Douglas MacAruther was assinged the duty to build Japan back. This was after Industries and farms were destroyed, the government was in shambles, the people were demorialized, and the emporor was no longer a god. -
The constitution
After WWII the U.S. occupied Japan till 1952. -
New constitution
MacArthur decided that Japan would be a constitutional monarchy. He made a constitution called the MacArthur Constitution. -
The Diet
The Diet was created with the constitution. This is a two-house parliament. -
Other Rights
Anybody over 20 years of age could vote because of this doucment. -
Reparations
Japan promised to pay the damages done by the war.
