    The US Supreme Court added to the 1790 Naturalization Act to exclude Japanese immigrants into the United States and prohibited them access to citizenship
  • Alien Land Law

    California passed a law prohibiting the Japanese from owning property. Many Japanese found a loop hole by buying land in the name of their US born children.
  • Alien Land Law Pt. 2

    Alien land law was changed to stop the transfer of land from Japanese children to their parents. Because of this the total amount of Japanese land shrunk to almost half.
  • National Origins Act of 1924

    This allowed for racial bias and limited access into the United States. This act excluded immigrants from all over, and Asian immigrants were seen as "aliens for ineligible for citizenship" This caused a rise in Asian racism.

  • Pearl Harbor

    Japan bombed the US naval base, Pearl Harbor, which led to 2,000 deaths and US involvement in World War II.
  • Executive Order of 9066

    FDR issued an order that removed people that were deemed a possible threat. These people were removed from the West Coast and moved to military zones inland. This act sent 110,000 Japanese to the camps. Each of the people were only allowed to bring what they could carry, which caused Japanese Americans to sell most of their belongings.
