    This is important because it demolished Tokyo and Yokohama and killed over 140,000 people

    Hirohito becomes emperor
    This is important because he was considered to be a figurehead with no political power because Japan surrendered after the bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He also took over during a period when the democratic sentiment was rising

    Japan invaded Manchuria, China
    This is important because the Japanese controlled the Manchuria railway and in September of 1931 they claimed that Chinese soldiers had sabotajed the railway and then proceded to attack the Chinese army and eventually conquered all of Manchuria leaving thousands of Chinese soldiers adn civilians dead.

    This is important because Pearl Harbor was a major US Naval base in Hawaii and the Japanese destroyed 20 American naval vessels, 8 huge battleships, and almost 200 airplanes. This attack was intended to neutralize the US Pacific Fleet and protect Japan's advance into Malaya and the Dutch East Indies.
