Mukden incident
A bomb exploded on the South Manchurian railway (Japanese-owned), in Mukden. The railway was not hurt but bomb the explosion took place near a group of Japan soldiers. Soldiers blamed the bombing on the Chinese even though it was probably placed by Japanese troops themselves. Japan used this as a reason to send troops into Manchuria. -
Lytton Report
The league of nations launched an investigation in Manchuria
A full year after the invasion. The investigation ended in the Lytton report that basically said that Japan didn't invade Manchuria to help it, they were the aggressor nation and they should draw out their troops. -
