The second World War was started by Germany in an attack on Poland. Britain and France declared War on Germany after Hitler had refused to abort his invasion on Poland. -

America has joined WW2
America joined WW2 because the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour but before that happened they weren't going to be a part of WW2. -
Darwin is bombed by Japan
At 9:58am February 19, 1942, 188 Japanese planes were launched against Darwin, whose harbour was full of allied ships. It was the largest Japanese attack since Pearl Harbour, 7 December, 1941. -
The 'All Clear"'
The "All Clear" was sounded at 10:40am but at 11:52am, the lookout at HMAS Platypus(Her Majesty's Australian Ship) saw 54 Japanese high-altitude heavy bombers from bases at Ambon and Sulawesi.The attack lasted between 20-25 minutes. 297 people died and between 300-400 were wounded. -

America drops 2 atomic bombs, 1 over Hiroshima and 1 over Nagasaki. They are the only atomic bombs ever used as an act of War. -

They were held in either prisoners of the Germans, in North Africa, Greece or Japan. -
WW2 has ended
Axis Power and Japan have surrended to the Allies which means WW2 has ended. But just remember no one wins the War! -
Immigration after WW2...
Between 1945 and 1965 more than two million migrants came to Australia. The Commonwealth Government paid most of their fares. In return they had to stay in Australia for at least two years and work what ever jobs the government gave them.
