    The origin of the genpai war

    The Genpai war demonstrated the final struggle between both the west clan Taira and the east clan Minamoto. A well known historical fiction about this war called Heike MonoGatari or tale of the heike. The war had three main and important people, Taira No Kiyomori, Minamoto No Yoritomo and Kiso Yoshinaka.

    20 years before the war, the conflict called Heji rebellion had come about, the man who held power behind the throne was Emperor Nijo and retired emperor Go-Shirakawa, both where saved by Tiara No Kiyomori between this conflict. Kiyomori was rewarded and quickly rose above ranks, and his influence spread, he had many taira men across the nation in governors seats, a prince named Mochihito did not liked this, his efforts weren't successful, but soon taken over by Minamoto No Yoritomo.

    Emeror Go-Toba was the 82nd emperor in japan. he had foreseen Ashikaga's plans for overthrowing the emperors, and made a rightful attempt to restore the power to the imperial court, his attempt was fulfilled and subjugation was given back to the imperial court through his rising of his own built power.

    As Emperor Go-Diago rose to power, and his to efforts to displace the Kamakura shogunate to restore the monarchy of civil war was ultimately successful, which quickly started a temporary period called the kenmu period, where the imperial families where divided into two rival divisions.

With the Tokugawa military government, he gained an immense amount of control over japan, the Tokugawa millitary government built its foundation in its new capital city in Edo (known as Tokyo in modern day) it reigned for a harrowing 260 years.
