U.S Commadore Mathew Perry enters Japan and demands they trade with the U.S. Japan accepts trade offers until later conflicts with the U.S. -

Under Emperor Meiji's rule, Japan becomes wealthy and powerful, winning wars against China and Russia -
1910
Japan takes over the Korean peninsula, until 1945 when the U.S decreases their numbers, then Korea takes the peninsula back. -
1923
The Great Kanto Earthquake occurs destroying Tokyo and Yokohama. Over 140,000 die. -
1926
Hirohito (A.K.A Emperor Showa) becomes the new emperor. He was accused of "war crimes" and persecuted. -
1931
Japan invades Manchuria, China. 1937 the war against china starts. Later the remanents of this war spark the flame that starts WWII. -
1940-1941
Japan becomes an ally of Germeny and Italy in WWII. Japan attacks Pearl Harbor, U.S later bombs Japan. -
1945
Japan is attacked by the U.S who drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This was the first and latest use of nuclear weapons in wartime.
