  • Lusitania's sinking

    Lusitania's sinking
    The Lusitania's sinking was significant because it introduced the United States' involvement to WW1. While the U.S. strived to remain neutral its lost of American lives broke the neutrality barrier. With 128 American causalities, this was enough to anger the U.S. trying to create this idea of not choosing sides.
  • Fourteen Points

    President Woodrow Wilson created these fourteen points to aim for peace and end of WW1. While the fourteen points worked for a while WW2 came around to destruct the idea of world peace. The significance of the 14 points were to inspire the League of Nations form.
  • The Roaring Twenties

    This was a very prosperous era that was know as the carefree era. The significance of the 1920s was innovation. Advancements such as the telephone and radio. Things that we use today arose in the 1920s such as colored movies.
  • 19th Ammendment

    The 19th Amendment granted the right to vote for all women resulting in ending woman's suffrage. This let women have a voice in our nations decisions instead of a male dominate viewpoint. One activist for equal rights towards women was a woman by the name of Susan B. Anthony.
  • The Great Depression begins

    The Great Depression begins
    The Great Depression led to an increase of poverty rates and thousands without a job. Areas created by the homeless were referred to as Hooverville that mocked the president at the time, Herbert Hoover. It is often silenced that the suicide rates were also increasing due to the frustration of being homeless.
  • Hitler becomes Germany's dictator

    The significance of Hitler's rise to power helped him to create the Nazi concentration camps and aim to reach his goal of the Final Solution. From this moment on, Hitler was able to direct Jews towards the many camps and proceed genocide.
  • Hover Dam completed

    The Hoover Dam's significance was to retain water from flooding, provides irrigation, and give off hydroelectric power. The dam itself was completed two years before the date set to be completed. However, while the dam did provide thousands of jobs, more than 100 Workers died while constructing the Dam.
  • WW2 begins

    The begin of WW2 invading Poland caused the Allied Powers and Central Powers to yet again create conflict. However, in this war, the U.S, was quickly involved rather than aiming for neutrality.
  • Manhattan Project begins

    After Japan bombed the U.S., President FDR granted approval for the creation of the Manhattan Project. Their were testing facilities set up all across the world. Residents near the facilities had everything monitored to make sure no one revealed information regarding the Manhattan Project.
  • Japan bombs Pearl Harbor

    Japan bombs Pearl Harbor
    The significance of the bombing was a new method of settling conflict however it did introduce a nuclear war. Japan during the Great Depression had tension within them and with World War II including both countries, as we know didn't end in peace but rather in consequences that took thousands of lives. The sudden bombing towards Pearl Harbor led to the U.S bombing Japan's Hiroshima and Nagasaki forced Japan to surrender and concluded the end of World War II.
  • Numenberg Trials

    The Nuremberg Trials were a set of thirteen trials that prosecuted Nazi officials for the crimes that they committed. Some of the judges of the trials belonged to the Allied Powers. In result of the trials, twelve Nazis were sentenced to death for their role to the Final Solution.
  • Rosenberg spies executed

    A spy couple was found supporting and working for Russian while disguised as U.S., citizens. Once caught they were tried for espionage and sentenced to death. They were gathering information about the Manhattan Project, planning to transfer it back to Russia.
  • Vietnam War began

    The U.S's prevention of the spread of communism is what linked the beginning of the Vietnam War. It was also preventing Soviet influence from forming. Millions of soldiers lives were taken in this war in result of the sudden attacks and horrible conditions.
  • Rosa parks inncident

    Rosa parks inncident
    This not only gave significance to African Americans but to the nation as a whole. White supremacy at the time was very common. This arose attention to the unfair treatment to African Americans and the civil rights movement began to grow.
  • Little Rock Nine

    A group of African American students volunteered to attend a all white high school. The National Guard was asked to guard the students throughout the day to protect the students from violent acts. The Brown V. Board of Education ruled that segregation of American public schools was unconstitutional.
