    In response to the attack on pearl harbor the USA bombs Japan in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Due to the devastation of both bombings and fear of more bombing Japan Surrendered. Days later the war ended.

    The US occupation of Japan helped push the country to become more democratic. As proof of this, their first election was held to elect a new parliamentary system.

    MITI was one of the most powerful agencies of the Government of Japan.It was created with the split of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The goal of the MITI was coordinating international trade policy with other groups, such as the Bank of Japan and the other industries. At the time it was created, Japan was still recovering economically from World War II.

    Yoshida became the 45th prime minister on 22 May 1946. His pro-American and pro-British ideals and his knowledge of Western societies, gained through education and political work abroad are what made him the perfect candidate in the eyes of the postwar Allied occupation.After being replaced with Tetsu Katayama in 1947, he returned to the post as the 48th prime minister in 1948.He resigns from his post in 1949.

Over 20,000 people were injured,missing, or dead.
