  • The beginning

    The beginning
    The novel opens to a young girl named Jane who is living with a woman named Mrs. Reed. Poor Jane is always getting bullied and pushed around by the other children known as Eliza, Georgiana, and John. In the first chapter Jane takes control of the one child, John and punches him right in the nose for teasing her.
  • The Red Room

    The Red Room
    Jane gets thrown into what is know as the red room. There she must stay for a few days by herself. For a little girl this is a terrifying experience. After being in there by herself Jane believes to be seeing things. The room seems to close in on her but then she thinks she sees Mr. Reed who has been dead. She screams awakening the house. This event makes her realize how much she hated lvinging with them. This event is important because it shows that Jane isnt the one who is actually bad.
  • Lowood

    Jane believes she should be allowed to go to school and Mrs. Reed likes the idea of getting rid of Jane. So with that Jane is sent away to a school where Mrs. Reed continues to tell everyone she is a lier and a bad girl. Jane soon takes comfort in the place though and befirends a little girl named Helen Burns. This is important because it is the next step into Janes life and she can now move on.
  • The Doctor

    Jane is awaken by a doctor that is trying to examine her. She is confused and asks Bessie what is going on. She finds out that she will be attending a school for girls at Lowood. Jane cannot wait to leave the Reed household.
  • The death of Helen Burns

    The death of Helen Burns
    Jane and Helen become the best of friends and are pretty much inseperatable. Unfortunately the school is hit with an epidemic that kills many of the girls including Helen. Throughout her passing however Jane stays beside her best friend and comforts her until she is gone. This is important because it shows that Jane is a very caring and compassionate person.
  • Moving on with Janes life

    As Jane gets older she becomes a teacher. She loves children and the thought of teaching them. So she takes up a teaching job at Lowood for two years. After those two years are up she becomes Governess to Adele Varens at Thornfield Hall.
  • Rochester

    Rochester
    Jane meets Rochester and immediately falls in love with him after he falls off his horse causing him to sprain his ankle. From there on the two fall hard for eachother and begin to make plans for the rest of their lives. This is important because Rochester will become a huge part of her life.
  • Jane saves Rochester

    In the middle of the night Jane hears an evil laugh and notices smoke. Rochester bed had been caught on fire as he lay asleep. She quickly puts the fire out and saves his life. Rochester is extremely grateful. This is important because without Rochester Janes life would of completely turned into a big mess.
  • The traveling of Rochester

    The traveling of Rochester
    Rochester leaves Thornfield to spend time with The Ingram Family and The Eshton Family. Once he returns he decides to host a big party for everyone to come too. Will at the party Ms. Ingram is introduced to Rochester and believe to be a possible wife for him.
  • Aunt Reed

    Jane returns home after hearing about Mrs. Reed coming down with a terrible sickness. As she sits beside her bed she tries to get her to forgive her but Mrs. Reed dies still hating Jane. This is important because Jane now understands that Mrs. Reedtruely is a horrible person and makes Jane feel as if she was the cause.
  • Engagement

    Engagement
    A month later Jane returns to Thornfield. rochester decides to take charge and proposes to Jane who happily accepts. Therefore they are now officially engaged.
  • The wedding

    Finally Jane and Rochester are about to be married. It is suppose to be the happiest day of their lives. The wedding though is unexpectically interrupted by a Richard Mason. He tells Jane that Rochester is already married to his sister Bertha Mason. This is important because Jane had no idea what she was just about to get herself into.
  • The Separation

    Rochester has a wife, and Jane is upset because she loves him. Bertha is her name and they claim that she is mental. Bertha was locked in an attic by her husband. Jane dreams about how she should leave this terrible situation that she put herself into, so she does.
  • Another proposal

    Jane becomes ill and is taken in by John rivers and his three sisters. Upon Janes stay with rivers she decides to become a school teacher again. After a little while passes John proposes to Jane in hopes that she will take him to be her husband.
  • Relation

    Jane over hears a conversation between the siters. She begins to ask questions and soon finds out that she is actaully related to John Rivers. She then leaves him and decides to return home to be with Rochester. This is important because without the news Jane would of been marrying one of her own relations.
  • Jane goes home

    Jane goes home
    Jane returns home to be with rochester. They end up having a son and living a long and happy life. Jane had been put through a lot but now she actaully has people in her life. This is important becasue it points out that no matter how tough life may seem there will always be some good in the end.
