He left Texel Netherlands sailing on the commander ship (the Drommedaris ) with his first son and first wife. The Drommedaris was accompinied by the Reijer and Goede Hoop ships and they all began their journey on the 24th December 1651. 82 men and 8 women were sent off to the Cape of Good Hope on these three main ships on this day. -
