Russellville, Kentucky Bank Robbery
The James-Younger gang rode into Russellville, Kentucky in order to rob the Nimrod Long Banking Company. They successfully acheived the robbery, but they had a few obstacles. Gallatin, Missouri Bank Robbery
Jesse and Frank James rode into town in order to commit another robbery, but halfway through thier priorities changed. Jesse was about to start the robbery when Frank walked into the bank, they both drew their pistols and killed the cashier. They thought he was Union Army Major S. P. Cox; however, the cashier's name was John Sheets. The Retreat and the Battle of Hanska Slough
With many people wounded in the gang they decided to split up. The heavily wounded in one group (Younger brothers) and the mildly wounded in the other (James brothers). Jesse and Frank tried to make the posse follow their trail, but in the end the posse captured the Younger brothers. Northfield, Minnesota Bank Robbery
They took with them a stolen amount of only $26.70. Behind them they left two good friends and fellow gang members dead, one dead horse, and two dead or dying Northfield citizens. One other citizen was wounded, and five out of the six surviving robbers were injured. Younger Brothers entered the Minnesota State Penitentiary in Stillwater
They had plead guilty to all four charges that they faced: robbery of the First National Bank of Northfield, attacking with attempt to do bodily harm on Alonzo E. Bunker, murder of Nicholas Gustavson, and accessory to the murder of Joseph Lee Heywood. They were all given life sentences. -

Jesse James Dies
Jesse uncharacteristically removes his guns and lays them on a bed. He then notices that a painting hanging on the wall is uneven and stands on a chair to adjust it. While this occurs, Bob and Charlie Ford each pull their pistols. Bob brings the hammer back on his gun, and just as Jesse begins to turn his head, Bob fires. The bullet hits Jesse under the right ear and he falls to the ground. Jesse James is dead at the age of 34. -
Bob Younger dies
He died of tuberculosis at the prison hospital. His brothers Cole and Jim and visiting sister Rhetta are at his side. His friend and deputy warden, Jacob Westby, is there as well. A funeral service is held for Bob at the prison a few days later, and then his body is sent by train back to Missouri. -

They step out of the prison at Stillwater for the first and last time. -
Jim Younger Dies
Jim sends a telegram to Alix Mueller in Idaho. The entire telegram simply tells Alix not to write him anymore. He then retreats to his hotel room at the Reardon Hotel. That night, around eight o'clock, Jim shoots himself in the head with a pistol he acquired. The wound is not immediatly fatal, and it takes several hours for Jim to actually die. -

Cole Younger Dies
Cole Younger dies of natural cause in his Lee's Summit home. He is the last member of the James-Younger Gang to die.
