The white Australia policy also known as the immigration restriction act is no longer a thing. -
1967 Referendum - Indigenous
This referendum was to get rid of lines in the constitution that made aboriginal people not counted as citizens of Australia. It also had the biggest yes vote ever of around 90% -
Eddie Mabo wins court case against the Victorian government - Indigenous
Eddie Mabo won a case against the Victiorian government. It gave them land rights and meant that Australia was not terra nullius (No mans land) when captain James cook claimed it. Sadly eddie mabo didn't live to see it because he died just 2 months earlier on the 21 January 1992 -
