Founded CORE
James L. Farmer Jr with his friend George Houser, and with some multi-racial group of celleagues founded the Committee Of Racial Equality (CORE) in Chicago in March 1942. He believed that together they could fight against segregation. -

After a short marriage with Winnie Christie in 1945, Farmer Jr married Lula A. Petersen in 1949. Him and his wife had two daughers, Tammy and Abbey. Lula died in the year 1977. -
National director of CORE
Farmer Jr. was elected to be the National director of CORE in Frebruary, 1961. He belived that segregation needed to end. -

Presidental Medal of Freedom
In 1998, Farmer Jr. was awarded the Presidental Medal of Freedom from President Bill Clinton. He belived that all the work he did was worth it. -
Farmer's Death
James Leonard Farmer Jr. died in July 9, 1999. He died at the age of 79 yeard. (died the year I was born)
