    The Arawaks were not fond of the Spainards. When the Spainards came to claim the Jamaican land, they tortured and killed the Arawak people to get their land. The European diseases aided in killing the Arawaks as well.

    Military leaders from England, gained control of Jamaica. The Spaniards surrendered after an attack on Jamaica. The Spainards then fled to Cuba.

    Spain officially gave up Jamaican land to England. England was now in control of Jamaica.
  • Slavery abolished

    Slavery abolished
    Jamaican emancipation and apprenticeship came into effect in 1834 and full freedom was granted in 1838.

    The Jamaican Constitution is said to be "the most fundamental legal document in the country." To this day this Constituion remains the platform of the country's decisions.

    Federation of West Indies consists of 10 British Territories. The prime members were Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and Barbados.
