    The Spanish took control of Jamaica. They soon deemed it unhealthy.
  • Land seized

    The English took control of Jamaica. The Taino still were on the island during the time.
  • Refuge

    Jamaica had became a refuge for Jews. It was also an attraction for those expelled from Spain and Portugal.
  • Worker imports

    Jamaica was still under British rule. The British began to import Chinese workers to help with sugar cane production.
  • Rebel

    The people of the island were rebellious to Britain. This caused Britain to end slavery on the island.
