    The Discover o Jamaica
    Jamaica was inhabited by Arawak. They came from South America. It was 2,500 years ago named xaymaca which meant land of wood and water. This lead a quiet and peaceful lives for others. When destroyed it was found by Christopher Columbus.
  • First Maroon War

    First Maroon War
    Leeward Maroons is a separate group. He separated 200 slaves of Ann Parish. They survived a shipwreck from a group of Madagascar. The British group sent more troops to Jamaica in 1728. Jamaica’s British government couldn’t beat Maroons for a period of time.
  • Second Maroon War

    Second Maroon War
    This was a two maroon flogged. This war lasted five months long. During this war there was a bloody stalemate. The British had 5,000 troops who were outnumbered. The casualties that died was many.
  • Sugar Boom

    Sugar Boom
    This sugar boom occurred because the sugar replaced piracy. The British West Indies brought sugar cane. They changed their crops many times. Their main crops were cotton and tobacco then sugar.
  • Tacky’s Revolt

    The slave overseers led a group of enslaved Africans. They took over the frontier during this revolt. The slave killed the storekeeper. Then, they were chased because of what they did. Obeahmen was hung and killed.

    This was around the time that world war 2 was over. Some plantations experienced a drought conditions. They were supporting an anti-slavery movement. The slaves destroyed 106 sugar plantations. Many of their consequences caused a whip. The British hung over 3000 slaves.

    During this time they loss their property. The conditions were contributed in a good way. They had an abolition movement. The Jamaican slaves had to stay with their former owners.
  • Morant Bay Rebellion

    Morant Bay Rebellion
    An African American was put on trial. He was put inside of prison because of what he did. He was trespassing on an abandoned plantation. Then, there was a fight that broke out between others and the police.
  • Marcus Garvey

    Marcus Garvey
    This is an important part of Jamaica. Outspoken native figures is what they had. Garvey served five years in prison. Advocate of black nationalism.
  • Rastafari movement

    Rastafari movement
    Haile Selassie was crowned the Emperor of her country. This was a significant event in Ethiopia. There were three street preachers.
