    Jacob's parents encouraged reading from a young age and would frequently visit the local library and let him read whatever books interested him. At the beginning of his 7 year old summer they enrolled him in a summer reading program. This helped develop a love for reading, learning, and gave him confidence in his academics.
  • Adolescence Identity vs Identity Confusion

    Adolescence Identity vs Identity Confusion
    On his 18th birthday Jacob moved out of his parents house and went to a new state to pursue athletics. This event was the culmination of years of finding out about himself and his own goals and beliefs that did not fall directly into line with his parents. While difficult, this resulted in Jacob being more comfortable and truthful with himself as a person rather than remaining unsure of his place and identity.
  • Early Adulthood Intimacy vs Isolation

    Early Adulthood Intimacy vs Isolation
    At age 25 Jacob had reached the point where he was stable and comfortable with how he had developed as an adult and bought a house with his future spouse. Rather than making a commitment to someone, this event marked the triumph of intimacy over isolation.
