  • Election of 1824

    Election of 1824
    The canidates of the Election of 1824 were Andrew Jackson, John Quincy Adams, Henry Clay, and William Crawfard. The elecion came down to Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams. Jackson won the popular vote but none of the four canidates won the electoral vote, so the vote went to the house of represenitives, where they picked John Quincy Adams.

    Election of 1828
    The Election of 1828 was between Andrew Jacson and John Quincy Adams. Jackson won the election in a landslide because Adams wanted to put a end to the slave trade while Jackson did not. Many Americans oposed Adamas and supported Jackson.

    The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830, authorizing the president to grant unsettled lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within existing state borders. A few tribes went peacefully, but many resisted the relocation policy.

    Worcester V. Ga was a case in which the United States Supreme Court vacated the conviction of Samuel Worcester and held that the Georgia criminal statute that prohibited non-Native Americans from being present on Native American lands without a license from the state was unconstitutional.

    Jackson belived that the national bank was too powerful and he felt that its leaders were corrupt. He ended up vetoing the bank after its charter was up for renewal.
  • Nullification Crisis

    South Carolina thought the tariff or 1828 was unconstitutional and they delcared it illegal by passing the nulification act. South Carolina threatned to secede. This led Jackson to lower the Tarriff.
