This was a bombing air raid on North Vietnam. This air raid was to destroy anything that will help benefit the north.

Johnson sends first combat troops to Vietnam

After American air bases started to get bombed Johnson sent troops. The first purpose was to patrol outside air bases for any Viet Cong.
