Henry Evacuated
Henry had to evacuate Gallipoli and go to hospital in Cairo after being wounded a second time from a gun shot, this wound caused a compound fracture. After being discharged from hospital he was a Clerk for a short amount of time. He then joined the 49th Battalion.

Joining the War in France
Henry's Battalion travelled to join in the war in France. They took part in the first battle at Pozieres.

Promoted to Sergeant
Henry recovered quickly and rejoined his battalion. He was promoted to the role of Sergeant on the same day. He was then known as Sergeant Buchanan for his gallantry efforts amongst his fellow soldiers.

Military Medal

Henry's fourth wound
Henry was wounded for his fourth time due to a gun shot to his hand, he rejoined his unit to continuing working on the same day. A few days after receiving this wound, he was medically discharged to England because of his hand.

Henry was returned home to Australia and began working to recruit more soldiers. -
