    Overall the Italian Unification process was responsible because of the Kingdom of Sardinia's advances towards making Italy a bigger and more unified state. With many leaders such as Garibaldi's red shirts and young Italian democrats leading the charge. Along with the newfound idea of "Realpolitik" or the idea of self interests in terms of politics helped used this idea to help fight for countries and nations that would benefit their country. Resulting in the unified Italy in the 19th century

    Revolutions of 1848

    It was a series of events against the European Monarchy and a was big wave of upheaval across France, Germany, Italy and the Austrian Empire. With the biggest contributing factors of these revolutions were the rising amount of liberals and liberal beliefs such as working class demands, more freedom of the press, upsurge of nationalism, etc. However ending with the revolutions being put down.
  • Cavour is prime Minister of Sardinia

    One of the faces and representatives in the Italian Unification process. He was a man who was involved in the methods of realpolitik that were decisions based on consequence, rather than moral circumstances.

    A war in which the Kingdom of Sardinia and France went to battle against the Austrian Empire. Napoleon the III and Italy went and attacked and managed to fight and defeat the Austrian Empire and in the process, gain the land of Lombardy.

    Garibaldi and his 1000 troops known as the "red shirts" had landed in Sicily to help conquer the kingdom of two Sicillies ran by the Bourbons and in 1861 at Salemi, Garibaldi had then claimed dictatorship over Sicily under King Victor Emmanuel II of Sardinia, further unifying the nation of Italy

    War between both the German Confederation under the leadership of Austria, and the German allies under Prussia rule. For the battle of who controls the Germanic states. In aiding this Italy had teamed up with the Prussians in order to defeat Austria and ended up receiving the city of Venice as a reward

    Italy was unified in the capture of Rome, resulting in the unified Italy and using Rome as the capital of the unified Italy
  • Franco Prussian War

    Battle between the French and Prussians because of the feared power Prussia would receive if they were to be a successful country. because of their efforts to extend German unification. French had control of Rome, however once the Prussians were defeated, France had no choice but to abandon Rome, resulting in the chance for Italy to take roam for themselves. Resulting in a unified Italy!
