Causes of the Red Scare
World War I sparked the Red Scare in America with the fear of socialist, communist, or anarchist ideas spreading across America with Russian Revolution being started after the war. The revolution was across Russia, southern and eastern Europe. People were also scared labor strikes such as the the Boston Police Strike in 1919. These were caused by decline in production and rise in unemployment post-war. -

Causes of Race Riots
While for the first time in history, African Americans had the opportunity to achieve working power at the center of an American industry, they would not be given the chance. The American Federation of Labor refused to organize blacks and whites into the same unions. Many of the unions within the AFL had exclusion clauses and color bans built into their charters. -
Effects of Race Riots
Following multiple destructions and deaths, President Woodrow Wilson blamed whites for the tension between races and introduced efforts to encourage racial harmony. These included congressional legislations and voluntary organizations. -

The main causes for disruption within the labor force were poor working conditions, income inequality among workers, and low wages for workers. -
Effects of Labor Strikes
By the ending of the strike, unions were completely defeated. Men and women would receive equal pay due to a committee meeting created by the War Cabinet. Women proved themselves to not be inferior to the male race by taking on and effectively performing men's work during the war. -
