At the age of 12 Ishmael's home village is attacked by rebels. And the whole village flees leaving him with just his older brother Junior. -

Ishmael first ever contact with the rebels. -

Ishmael is separated from his brother and has no more remaining family. -
Camp
Ishmael discovers a government camp where soldiers are stationed. -
Fumes
After many day of traveling Ishmael hears word of where his family is just to go to the village. To see it being burned in flames. -
Unicef
Some of the young soldier boys including Ishmael are given to Unicef to have a better life. -
Family
Ishmael is reunited with a family member in New York through the unicef program named Lennie. -
New Home
He is introduced to his uncles family and is getting used to the New York lifestyle. Which is hard adapting to at first. -
Death
His uncle Lennie dies last remaining family member he knows. -
Graduation
Ishmael graduates in New York from the United Nations International School.
