New Orleans born and raised
I was born on June 23rd, 1995 in New Orleans, Louisiana. My parents Liz and Dunbar Healy raised me in a southern culture of exquisite art, food, and FUN. (No, alligators do not roam the streets. Also, no, I am not related to anyone on the show Duck Dynasty). -
9/11
Although I was only in elementary school, watching the bombing of the Twin Towers on national television impacted my view of the world immesely. I triggered my first real interest in journalism. -
Hurricane Katrina
My family and I safely evacuated to my grandmother's house in Natchez, Mississippi. For three weeks we stayed with two other families in a house powered by a generator, watching the news in horror as New Orleans went under water.
During the year it took to repair our house, my family and I lived in a mobile home on a cow farm--talk about royal treatment.
I consider this one of the most significant times in my life. Besides life lessons, it taught me the importance of journalism during a crisis. -
High School 2008-2013
I attended St. Scholastica Academy, where I was a member of several team sports and loved serving on student council. I was president of my class sophomore, junior, and senior year. This required a lot of speech writing and delivering. I was also chosen twice by administration to represent our school on the local news. station. -
USC
Currently I'm enrolled in the University of Southern California, majoring in Broadcast and Digital Journalism. This is truely a dream school, and I'm looking forward to the next three years as an undergrad!
Wednesday nights I volunteer for ATVN as playback manager for the news at 6. I set expectations pretty high when I accidentally cut the show off mid-commercial during our first live show.
