Presented by President Carter, the Executive Order 12170 banned oil imports from Iran. This damaged the Iranian economy beacuase the United States supplied a large number of income. -

Operation Eagle Claw was an attempt by the United States military to save 52 American hostages that were taken by Iran. However, this operation failed becasue the American Airplanes were destroyed in Tehran where the hostages were kept. -
