    Thomas Edison's Light Bulb
Thomas Edison created the Electric Light Company in 1878, with the focus of creating a cheaper electric light to replace gas lamps. He created an incandescent lamp, with a filament that sat in a vacuum bulb. Edison was trying to come up with a high resistance system that would require far less electrical power than was used for the arc lamps. This could eventually mean small electric lights suitable for home use. In 1890, after many tests, he developed a long lasting light bulb.
