Typewritter
The typewriter was invented in 1866 by Christopher Sholes. A typewriter is a small electric or manual machine with keys that puts characters one at a time on a piece of paper that moves by a roller. -
Traffic Lights
Traffic lights were invented in 1868 by J.P. Knight. They were invented to keep roads safer and make traffic undercontrol. -
Phonograph
The phonograqph was invented by Thomas Edison in 1877. The phonograph was a machine that was invented so you could record your vioce, and then play it back to listen. Edison's first model was constructed of tin foil. -
Light Bulb- Electricity
The lightbulb was invented on October 22, 1879 by Thomas Edison. It was invented to make seeing inside at night easier and safer. -
Player Piano
The player piano was invented in 1881 by Edward Leveaux. It was an improved piano that could be used at home or restaurants for entertainment. -
Cash Register
The cash register was invented in 1884 by James Ritty. It was invented to make businesses distribute and store money easier and faster. -
Motorcycle
The motorcycle was invented in 1885 by Gottlieb Daimler. It was invented to make traveling easier by using a smaller vehicle. -
Electric Furnace- Electricity
The electric furnace was invented in 1886 by Elihu Thomson. It was invented to heat a home by using electricity and not as much firewood. -
Roll Film
The roll film was invented in 1888 by Geroge Eastman. The roll film was a dry, transparent, flexible photographic film that could be used in kodak cameras so that it was easier to replace the film. -
Nickel-in-the-Slot (Jukebox)- Electricity
The Nickel-in-the-Slot (jukebox) was invented in 1889 by Louis Grass and William S. Arnold. It was invented for a new and interesting way to listen to music. -
Electrical Kettle- Electricity
The electrical kettle was invented in 1891 by Compton and Co. It was invented to make boiling faster. -
Zipper
The zipper was invented in 1893 by W.L. Judson. It was invented so there could be a way to open and close clothing items without ruining them. -
Rollercoaster
The rollercoaster was invented in 1898 by Edwin Prescott. It was invented for families to have fun and to add on to amusement parks. -
Vacuum Cleaner
The vacuum cleaner was invented in 1899 by John Thurman. It was invented to make cleaning much easier and faster, while using a much more modern way. -
Airplane
On December 17, 1903 the fist airplane was sucessfully created by Orville and Wilbur Wright. It was invented to make traveling faster, and more interesting by flying. -
Tractor
The tractor was invented in 1904 by Benjamin Holt. It was invented to make the farm life much easier and more productive. -
Model T
The Model T was invented in 1908 by Henry Ford. The Model T was one of the earliest invnetions of what today would be considered a car. It made transportation much more faster and easier. Model T's were originall priced at $850 when they were first released. -
Bra
The bra was invented in 1913 by Mary Phelps Jacob. It was invented to help keep women supported while they were completing their daily activities. -
Pop-up Toaster
The pop-up toaster was invented in 1919 by Charles Strite. The pop-up toaster was invented to make toasting toast easier, and faster. -
Hairdryer- Electricity
The hairdryer was invented in 1920 by Alexandre F. Godefroy. It was invented so people could dry their hair much faster.
