Radio was invented by Guglielmo Marconi. When the radio was invented, it changed the lives of many people in Canada and the world. People would use the radio while they were doing house work, to relax or to simply waste time. This is important because Canadians thought it was very impressive. Soon the world started to use it wildly and it shows that Canada is advancing above every other country in the 20th century.

Radar Sonar
After the Titanic disaster in 1912, Reginald Fessenden invented radio sonar. His invention allows vessels to “see” hazards in darkness and fog. In this way people will know whether there is dangerous around them. This is significant because this was first invented to avoid the tragedy like the Titanic disaster from happening again, but it is able to be used in the future. It can warn people if they are dangerous in the darkness. -
Insulin
Dr. Frederick discovered Insulin and when he succeeded. He improved the living of Canadians a lot through science and technology.When insulin was first used on a fourteen-year old boy who obtained diabetes.Insulin worked to help his disease.When it worked, hundreds of people who had diabetes came to Toronto to be treated, after hearing about its exciting success.This invention made Canada shine during this time because saving lives are always a great thing to do.This won the Noble Prize in 1923. -
Snowmobile
In 1922, Armand Bombardier made the first snowmobile when he was just fifteen-years old. During the winters in Canada, it was hard to go to places by car. Snowmobile made the lives of Canada so much easier. This creation has changed the lives of Canada, and other parts of the world that has snow during the winters. This is highly significant because it gave the world new ideas, new jobs, businesses and made people’s lives much more easier.The picture was the first snowmobile. -
Electronic television
The system was designed by Philo Taylor Farnsworth who was 21 years old.Farnsworth had begun to think of a system that could capture moving images in a form that could be transformed back into a picture on a screen, when he was in high school. He thought that TV would make people’s life more interesting. It was very popular in the USA, then in Canada.It helped people improved their living quality. People can know more about what’s going on in the world by watching and listening. -
Telephone
Telephone was first invented by an Italian in 1876. And it became wildly use since 1940. It was invented because at that time people can only write letters to show their feeling from a long distance, and that was very inconvenient. Sometime when your letter arrived, the person waiting for it was dead. So telephone became popular. When WW2 started people can be used to send their love faster.Especially Canada, because Canada was far away from the battle field. And it's more convenient. -
Artillery
The first gunpowder artillery took place on 28 January 1132. And it was wildly used during the wars in 20 centuries. Almost all the countries utilized the artillery during the wars. Canada had a Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery. During the war in South Africa, Canada contributed the Brigade Division of the Canadian Field Artillery. Artillery was used by Canada in many wars.And it was a very powerful weapon and technology. It helped Canada to win a lot of wars. -
Anti-G suit
During WW2, Dr.Wilbur Franks invented a suit called the Anti-G suit.This kind of suit was designed for the pilots. In this way they can withstand eight times the amount of pressures than gravity in the air. It also can be used for diving planes and jets. This is significant because the suit was created for use of World War II, but it is able to be used in the future. It can protect people from getting hurt. -
The Canadian Anti-Acoustic Torpedo (CAT)
The Canadian Anti-Acoustic Torpedo (CAT) was invented by John Morley Dyke in 1943. The purpose of inventing it was to protect the ships above. It was used for protecting the beach at Normandy. Also when it is a windy day, the ships are vulnerable. Because sometimes the wind can blow the ship away from where it supposed to go. Fuel Cells
Fuel cells are being produced where they don't require non-renewable resources and it only emits water and heat. This means that when these fuel cells are being used in vehicles or spacecrafts.They can provide energy without polluting the air. The significance of this is that it shows how much they have accomplished with technology and science over the century and the fact at this point. It is it allowing the environment to become cleaner by trying to reduce pollution that technology provides. -
Ms.Manku
Ms.Manku is the best social studies 11 teachers in the whole Maple Leaf Education System. She is very kind to her students, funny in class, and gives her students a high mark. For example, she will give Davina's final project 95 percent or above.
