First Navigable Submarine
The first navigable submarine was invented in 160 by Cornellis Jacobszon Drebbel. He used William Bourne's plans from 1578. This had a positive change in society because people were now able to go into the ocean without getting lost and explore the adventures of the ocean. -
First Mercury Thermometer
The first Mercury Thermometer was invented by Gabriel Fahrenheit in 1722. The expansion of mercury combined with glassworking techniques led to a more accurate thermometer. This has a positive influence on society because without it we wouldn't know temperatures. -
First Electric Light
The first electric light was created by Humphry Davy in 1809. He was experimenting with electricity and invented an electric battery. When he connected the wires to the battery and a piece of carbon, the carbon glowed, creating the light. This had a big impact on soiety because we use light everyday and without it we would have problems seeing. -
First Piloted Helicopter
The first piloted helicopter was created by Paul Cornu in 1907. The first flight lifted Cornu 1 foot off the ground that lasted about 20 seconds. Helicopters have a positive change on society because we can travel long distances in shorter times and can transport injured people faster than by ambulance. -
Birth Control Patch
The birth control patch was invented by McNeil Pharmaceutical in 2002. Hormones pass through the skin and into the bloodstream. Put it somewhere discrete and change it once a week. This is a positive change for society because you will never forget to take the pill, get shots, or use a condom.
