Invasion Of Poland

  • Before The Invasion

    Before The Invasion
Adolf Hitler wanted to be sure to take out Poland early so as it would be something he would not have to concern himself with. Along with that, he also desired all of the additional agricultural resources and manpower from the country. Once he had all of those, then he would make a non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union so as to not have to worry about enemies in the East during his conquest of the West.

At first, the Germans were met with somewhat decent resistance. However, Poland was vastly out numbered and outgunned. Day by day, the Polish would begin losing ground more and more but they were determined to fight until the end.

  • A War On Two Fronts

    A War On Two Fronts
While the Polish were already scrambling to due the best they could to stave off the German Advance, their situation only continued to grow worse. From the East, the Soviet Union would declare war on them as well, immediately dealing a devastating blow to the country. This unsuspected attack would then also cause them to have to divide their forces between the two countries, putting the nail in the coffin for what was already a losing battle.
  • Poland's Inevitable Defeat

    Poland's Inevitable Defeat
Despite the Polish peoples best efforts, the overwhelming odds of fighting both Germany and Soviet Russia were too much to handle resulting in their surrender on October 6th. This would be one of the shortest conflicts during WW2, taking only a month for Poland to be split right down the middle. Thus, the western side of the country would end up in control of Nazi Germany, with the East in control of Soviet Russia.
