After her owner does not keep his promise to free her, Sojourner escapes and only takes her daughter. Later, she sees Dumont and her son peter , is returned to her because he was illegally sold to another owner. -
Sojourner Truth becomes an abolitionist- 1846
Sojourner Truth becomes so influenced by the abolitionists that she meets, she is devoting her whole life to ending slavery. She begins going around the world giving lectures around the country and many people gather and come to hear her stories about slavery. -
Sojourner Truth creates a new program to help ex-slaves- 1867
She noticed how many ex-slaves are suffering from poverty, so she creates a new program to help the ex-slaves get jobs. She asks congress to give them land in the west to live on. But, congress rejects her idea. -
Sojourner Truth dies in Michigan- November 26, 1883
Sojourner Truth gets an infection on her leg. She goes to the famous Battle Creek Sanitarium, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, He gives her a treatment, but the treatment doesn't work and she dies in home at the age of 86.
