Jon Krakauer started journey with guides Rob Hall, Mike Groom, Andy Harris, and the rest of the team. . . -
Dropped off
helicopter dropped them off and started journey. In February 1996, Jon Krakauer got a call from Rob Hall saying that there was a spot for Jon on the Everest trip. So Jon took that spot. On March 31 1996, a helicopter dropped them off and they started their journey. -
Khumbu Glacier
Jon Krakauer and the rest of the team arrived at the lower end of the khambu glacier. -
Sherpa Tenzing falls into a 150 foot crevasse

Tenzing Rescued
Tenzing was rescued by Rob hall and many others, mostly sherpas. -
Reached its lobuje 16,200ft
Later that day, the group at Lobuje receives word by radio that the Sherpa has been retrieved and brought down to Base Camp to be evacuated by helicopter. Hall gives the word for the group to leave Lobuje and make way to Base Camp. The group is delighted to be leaving the filthy encampment. Some have already become ill, including Andy Harris, the guide. -
Reached 17,600ft.
After ten days of hiking through the walled canyons and rhodendron forests of northern Nepal, Jon Krakauer walked into Everest base camp. His altimeter read 17,600ft. -
Puja cerermony at base camp
No team is permitted to enter Everest Base Camp without undertaking an elaborate Puja, or religious ceremony. -
Reached the end of icefall after 4 hours

Jon Krakauer's 42nd birthday
On April 12 everybody is in good health. Also on April 12 1996, Jon Krakauer turned 42. -
Camp One
Jon Krakauer and the rest of the team reached camp 1, 19,500ft on 12 April 1996 -
Second Time to Camp One
Krakauer and his team arrive at camp one for the second time at 9:00 A.M. -
Camp Two Acclimatization
The team reached camp 2 to acclimatize and to get used to the atmosphere. -
Back to Base Camp
After climbing to camp two, the team returns to base camp. -
Ropes need to be fixed on South Col
Guides go to fix ropes on South Col, a very dangerous place. -
Base Camp to Camp 2
The team have humped all the way from Base Camp to Camp two in one long day to begin their third and final acclimatization sortie in preparation for the summit push. -

The team reaches Camp 3 and get oxygen to go to 24,000 ft. -

At 4:30 A.M. Jon and fellow climber Andy Harris depart from base camp for the last time, headed for the summit. -
Camp Two Once Again
At 10:30 A.M. Jon Krakauer arrives at camp two and waits for the rest of the climbers to arrive. -

Camp Three
Around 12:00 P.M. Jon reaches camp 3 on Everest, where he plans to stay before climbing to high camp -

Getting ready to ascend
At 7:30 A.M. they were pulling on their boots to ascend to Camp Four. 1 climber falls down Lhoste face and survives but later dies descending the mountain -
Taiwanese Died
Taiwanese led a 13-member team to Everest and was climbing with Mingma Tsiri Sherpa. On May 9, Chen Yu-Nan died -
Summit
After a long hard journey, the team finally raeched the summit. It was 1:17 pm when Jon Krakauer reached the summit and he spent less than 5 minutes on the roof of the world. He have not slept in 57 hours. He notices a few clouds in the sky, but he thinks nothing of it. He will come to regret it later. -
Oxygen Accident
Jon krakauer asked Andy Harris to turn down the value on the regulator, to conserve the remaining oxygen. But on accident he opened it wide and drained all of it and the tank got empty. -
Rob Hall and Scott Fischer
Rob Hall and Scott Fischer are stranded near the summit. -
Anatoli Boukreev
Anatoli Boukreev reached the summit before Jon Krakauer, who in turn was ahead of Andy Harris. -
Jon believes he sees Andy Harris.
Not far from camp four, an oxygen deprived Krakauer believes he sees Andy Harris scoot down a steep slope and run toward camp. However, the next day, Harris is missing. -
Blizzard
At 5:00pm, a blizzard hits the top of Mount Everest -
Rob Hall's Death
On May 11 Rob Hall called his wife. Shortly after he called her he died. -
Yasuko Namba and Beck Weathers
Yasuko Namba and Beck Weathers are found close to death. Later, Yasuko Namba dies. -
Missing Andy Harris
At 6:00am, they realized Andy Harris was missing. On May 11 1996, Stuart Hutchison shook Jon awake at 6:00 A.M. "Andy is not in his tent" he told Jon somberly. So, on May 11 at 6:00 A.M they realized Andy Harris was missing. -
Descent from Everest
On May 12, the survivors started to descent Mount Everest. At that time, 8 were confirmed dead. -
Back to Camp 2
Around 1:30 PM, Jon drags himself into camp two, where the wind died down and the sun was out. Jon said, "No longer did it seem as though I were clinging to survival by a fraying thread." (272) -

Fischer was buried above the South Col as team regroups -
End
The journey is over. The survivors go back to their homes repectively to their families. Some go to the hospital. -
Back to states
On May 19, Jon flew back to the states, carrying two duffels of Doug Hansen's belongings to return to the people who loved him. When he reaches the airport, Doug Hansen's family makes him even more aware of his guilt. -
Rob Hall's Dead Body
On May 23, Rob Hall's body was found by mountaineers from the IMAX expedition.
