My Experience in Elementary School
When I began elementary school, we did not have Ipads/laptops available to us in our classrooms. One, being that Ipads simply hadn’t been invented or released until 2010. Two, I just simply grew up in an area where laptops weren’t in the budget for schooling just yet. We went on class days to the
computer lab. We participated in an online learning program called Compass Learning, Odyssey. I loved this program and still talk about some of the lessons I was given to this day! -

Middle School -
My Experience in Middle School
At this time I was in middle school, and we were given a mobile lab cart that DID have laptops. We were over the moon excited and of course these laptops were nothing like the laptops today like Macbooks! This is when I was first introduced to Microsoft Word. I fell in love with writing papers about things that interested me. While we learned the form of an essay we also were learning to type them out as well. -

My Experience in High School
During this time we had our phones of course (Iphones) and social media had really started to get popular for my generation. I was still too behind to have our own Ipad/laptops and we graduated before we began getting our own. Our phones went everywhere we did and we still used a computer lab in high school! -

College -
My College Experience
I was in college and was gifted for graduation my very first Macbook which is what I am using as we speak. I used Microsoft Word a lot again, PowerPoint, and so many more to complete projects. Of course covid happened during this time and the Macbook came in handy so much for communicating via zoom with professors. -
My Work Experience
When I became a teacher in Kanawha County we were provided with our own Macbooks. Which was wild for me because my teachers had to do everything manually. Then I started teaching technology and have a mobile lab of my own with MACBOOKS! Crazy how things turn. The kids love when it is a lab day and it sometimes makes me think if this was how excited I looked for our mobile labs way back when. -
