  • The Treaty of St. Germain

    The Treaty of St. Germain
    Allies + Austro-Hungarian Empire. The treaty recognised independence of:
    Hungary, Poland, Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia. land was takenfrom Austria and was given to Italy who joined the Allies in 1915, Trentino, South Tyrol, Trieste and Istria were also handed to Italy, along with some of the Dalmatian islands.

    The treaty of Neuilly was signed with Bulgaria and the Allies.
    the treaty said that Bulgaria had to pay reparations of £100 million. Land in western Bularia was given to the current Yugoslavia, and Bulgaria was requied to reduce its army. post-neuilly, the bulgarian army was limited to 20,000 men

    Hungary's army was reduced to 35,000 men. conscription was banned and as a land locked nation she was not allowed a navy, along with an airforce.

  • French occupation of the Ruhr

    French occupation of the Ruhr
    After Germany failed to pay its reparations, france lost its patience and occupied the Ruhr, an industrial area of Germny, and attempted to run the industry and try to cover the lost reparation debt
  • Corfu Incident

    When Italian General Tellini, who was leading a LoN delegation, was murdered in Greece, After no signs of Greek authorities finding a culprit, and no apology for the incident, MUssolini ordered the naval bombardment and then invasion of the Greek island of Corfu. Greece pleaded to the LoN, who demanded that GREECE pay 50,000,000 (Italian Lira) in reparations to Italy and apologise. Italy left the island

    The Dawes Plan was a plan set up by the USA to restructure the reparations, as germany was struggling. once again, germany's reparations were reduced and was helped by US loans. The Dawes plan made it possible for the last occupying troops to leave the Ruhr

    The locarno pact was a pact which paved the way for Germany's joining of the League of nations. it was a collection of Seven treaties where the countries that signed agreed to respect their common borders and to go to the league to settle disputes. it was signed by Britain, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Belgium, Italy, France, and Poland. IT was signed in Locarno, Swizerland

    Kellogg-Briand Pact
    The Kellogg-Briand pact was a pact between 61 countries to agree to always find peaceful solutions to problems. this showed how there was a common desire for peace. Some of the countries that signed the pact were the USA, the USSR, Germany and Britain. the pact was authored by the US secretary of State, Frank Kellogg, and the French foreign minister, Aristide Briand
  • League of Nations - Manchuria

    League of Nations - Manchuria
    in the 1930s there was worldwide economic depression. japan tried to ovrcome the depression by building up an empire. in 1932 the japanese army invaded manchuria and threw out the chinese (they staged a railway explosion of a japanese train and blamed it on manchurian nationalists), setting up their own government called manchoukuo the League sent the Lytton commission to stury the problem (this took a year!) and in february 1933, ordered Japan to leave.

  • Anschluss

    after a nazi leader was appointed minister of the interior to please hitler, Germany invaded Austria to absorb austria into Germany, but met no resistance, and was welcomed. there was a referendum held to reassure the allies. 99.75% of Austrians said they supported joining with Germany.

    it was a pact of non-aggression between the soviet union and Germany, it was meant to last 10 years but only lasted until the 22nd of June 1941
