League of Nations formed
League of Nations beginning to form as peace negotiations began in WW1 -
League of nations inability
1919, 1921, 1923, League of nations were unable to achieve some treaties, giving evidence that there are still flaws in such “international” system. -
League of Nations too prejudice
1919 and 1917, as Germany and Russia could not join the League of nations this showed that the LoN was still too dominated by the “victors.” -
League of Nations: serving the "victors" of WW1
1920 to 1921, LoN did nothing about the massive land given to Poland as the countries of LoN saw Russia as a communist plague. Presenting that the LoN was too intolerant of certain countries, and was too focused on only serving the “victors” of WW1. -
League of Nations direct interference
1921 and 1923, direct interference of the League of Nations into many countries solved conflicts that had already cost many lives, proving the possibility of the world working together. -
creation of IMF and world bank
• IMF and World bank mutually created : 1944 -
UN officially formed
UN officially came into existence with 51 original member States/ Nations. -
29 nations sign IMF and WB articles of agreement.
• 1945, December 27 officially formed as articles of agreement were signed by 29 countries. -
France borrowing from IMF
• 1947: France becomes the first country to borrow money, marking the legitimacy of the world bank and IMF -
Cuban Missle Crisis UN resolution
UN was used as a podium for the Cuban missile crisis; able to solve this very volatile problem quickly it showed how useful the UN agreements and the UN stage is. -
World Trade Bank
WTO is established in 1974 as a legal successor to the previous GATT -
smaller countries borrow from IMF
• 1991, smaller countries that broke up from the Soviet union also borrowed money to form new governments and others once again marking the existence and the real use of the IMF and bank. -
UN Peace keeping force enacted
1993, 1994, 1995, UN peacekeeping forces were sent into multiple areas within the Africa and Asia region, but were unable to achieve their goals to any extent leading to the deaths of many bystanders. Showing the UN’s inability to achieve certain goals. -
WTO put into action
January 1st, 1995 commenced the WTO by GATT members on the basis of multilateral trade talks which truly established the WTO’s existence and solid matter. -
UN Security council reform
Secretary general Annan took office and initiated a reform program that reflected popular demands, and rather to have a permanent security council, he constructed a more transparent, accountable and efficient bureaucracy. -
telecommunications services agreement by WTO
• 1997, agreement was reached on telecommunications services, completely revolutionizing the look on the WTO as now it can be seen as a legitimate force internationally. -
WTO trade initiatives
1997, large high-level trade meeting on trade initiatives took place which introduced more economic treaties and agreements. -
UN New York World Summit
World summit which was held at UN new York headquarters, this summit was one of the first of its kind, allowing proposals of all kinds addressing matters that the UN should attend to yet have still not. -
WTO incorporation of other nations
Russia and many other Nations join but Russia in specific as seen as an old enemy they were allowed to join which signified the WTO was a international foundation not just a puppet for the west. -
IMF world debt
• 2012, as the western world is plunged into debt and others larger countries started borrowing money and now the IMF has become an important factor in keeping certain countries.....somewhat above water.
