Baklava (8th Century BC)
Baklava is by far the most historic dish on this list. It traces back to the Ottoman Empire. The layered dish has held true to it's form even all these years later. -
Danish Pastry
The Danish patry emerged after a workers strike. The Austrian workers were forced to work in factories as replacements. This being one of the few dishes they knew, it began to spread. -
Creme Brulee
This classic French dessert has many different varities, including classic custard, pumpkin and lemon. Something each varaition includes: A hard, caramelized sugar crust. -
Tiramisu
This Italian dessert, composed of ladyfingers, coffee, and custard, has a mysterious histroy. Some beleive it may have been created in the 1660s. However, the ingredients list suggests it isn't feasible to believe so. -
Burnt Almond Torte
This dessert, created by Henry Prantl, was brought over to Pittsburgh after he went to a convention in California. At the convention, he was urged to find creative ways to use almonds. I think we can mark that endeavor as successful!
