Benito Mussolini became president and dictator in Italy bringing in the world's first fascist dictatorship. Mussolini and his black shirt's eliminated all oppositions and terrorized the people and the king into allowing him to come to power. This had a great influence on Hitler. -

1935 France signed a treaty of friendship and mutual support with USSR. Germany claimed the treaty was hostile to them and Hitler used this as an excuse to send German troops into the Rhineland in march 1936. Contrary to the terms of the treaties of Versailles and locator. -

Hitler wanted all German-speaking nations in Europe to be a part of Germany. To this end, he had designs on re-uniting Germany with his native homeland, Austria. -

Munich Agreement, (September 30,1938) settlement reached by Germany, Great Britain, France, and Italy that permitted German annexation of the Sudetenland in Western Czechoslovakia. It became known in may 1938 that Hitler and his generals were drawing up a plan for the occupation of Czechoslovakia. -
