  • Vegemite was invented

    The fred walker company, which later became Kraft food company hired a chemist to create a spread from brewers yeast. After months of testing, Australia’s leading food technologist of the 1920’s and 30’s, Dr Cyril Percy Callister developed vegemite.
  • Time Magazine was invented

    Time magazine is a weekly magazine invented by Henry R. Luce and Briton Hadden, two young journalists to be able to inform busy people in an organised, efficient and brief matter about current events in the world. The first copy was published march 23rd.
  • First Winter Olympics

    On january 25th the first winter olympics (originally known as winter sports week) was held in French Alps and continued until february 5th. There was a total of 6 sports, 16 nations and 258 athletes competing.
  • the first Mickey Mouse cartoon was aired

    The mickey mouse cartoon was first invented when walt disney was at the lowest point of his career when the studio had retained the rights to the cartoon “oswald the lucky rabbit” an instant hit for universal. But Ub Iwerks, walt disney's one loyal animator that stayed with disney bros, held a series of late night brainstorming sessions for oswalds replacement, and there, Mickey Mouse was born.
  • Sliced bread was invented

    On july 6th, sliced bread was first sold in a bakery in chillicothe, Missouri, Otto Rohwedder invented a machine that automatically sliced the loaves of bread. It didn't take long for for it to become a hit around america, by 1930 it could be found in most towns across the country.

    Pluto was discovered by a 24 year old astronomer called Clyde Tombaugh. Astronomers noticed the orbit of neptune and uranus was being affected by an unknown object in the solar system. After a lot of hard work Clyde discovered pluto.

    The empire state building is a 102 story, skyscraper in Manhattan, New York. President Herbert Hoover pressed a button as the lights of the building turned on and signified the opening if the empire state building.
  • Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic

    Amelia earhart was an american aviator who during a flight to circumnavigate the world disappeared in an area over the pacific ocean. Her plane was never found and was officially declared lost at sea. Her death was one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of the 20th century.

    Monopoly is a board game designed by Elizabeth Maggie and Charles Darrow published on february 6th 1935.
  • the Golden Gate Bridge opened

    The golden gate bridge is a bridge that’s two miles long connecting the city of san francisco and marin country, california going over the golden gate. Construction began in 1933 and was opened to the public in 1937.
