1770-When Australia was discovered
Australia was discovered in 1770 by captian James Cook. He sailed from Englands Playmouth harbour on the Endeavour, Cook's ship. -
First Fleet
The First Fleet is the name given to the 11 ships which left Great Britain on 13 May 1787. The first fleet carried officers, crew, marines and their families. -
Gold rush
The gold rush had a huge effect on Austraila's population. Many people from across the world to try and find gold. More than 100 prospectors came to Australia after Edward Hargraves discovered gold. -
Eureka Stockade
The Eureka Stockade was when the gold diggers rebeled against the Goverment because they didnt have the money to buy licenses to dig. The battle lasted just 20 minutes. This lead to fair democracy to both diggers and the police. -
Federation
Australia became it's own country on the 1st of January 1901, when the British parliament passed a law to allow the six Australian colonies to run in their own right as part of the Commonwealth of Australia. -
WW1
In WW1 Australia promised Britain to give them Australian soldiers to help Britain with WW1. It was a big sacrafice for Australia because thousands of people got killed, wounded, and captured by the other countries.

Australia and Britain
Australia's and Britain's realations are one of the closest international relationships. They are very similar with there cultures, language, sporting competitions, investment co-operation and trade.
