    this timetoast presentation is my research of these 10 industrial revolution creations.
  • Newcomen atmospheric engine

    Newcomen atmospheric engine
    in 1712, Thomas Newcomen--an English inventor--is credited for the first "practical" steam engine. this design was called the "Newcomen atmospheric engine" it pumped water out of mines, which helped a common problem that occurred during that era. however, later on James watts would make an improvement on the device that would make it more efficient and versatile.

    the spinning jenny, invented by James Hargreaves in the 1760's, revolutionized the way we work with textiles. before, people would spend a lot of time spinning an individual thread. with the introduction of this creation, you could spin multiple threads at once with ease. the process made the clothing industry thrive because it made it cheaper, easier, and faster to make.

    during the industrial revolution, the invention of the water frame by richard arkwright was created in 1769. the water frame helped the cotton industry with its spinning process that compared to other manual methods; was more efficient. the invention transformed the cotton and textile industries, fueling the the rapid growth of industrialization.

    the invention of the power loom was created in 1785 by its patent; edmund cartwright. the power loom marked a mile point in industrialization with its weaving process that replaced many manual laborers with its incredible speed. the power loom played an important role in helping the textile industry thrive. it helped large-scale factories and the expansion of the textile industry.

    in 1790, a British inventor named Thomas saint had created a design of the sewing machine. the machine wasn't particularly advanced but still people crazed over the machine. the original intentions on this device was for leather and canvas, which you would crank by hand. this invention ended up helping the process of making clothes and has now been reformed into what it is today.

    the cotton gin was invented by eli whitney in 1793. it was a life changing creation for the cotton industry, before cotton gin, separating cotton fibres from the seeds was a slow, painful process. when when the cotton gin was invented, the task quickly became more efficient, showing the dramatic increase of cotton production.

    the photograph is an incredible invention, it’s credited inventor is joseph niepce and louis niepce. they had an experiment where they used light-sensitive chemicals on metal/silver that led to the first permanent photograph in 1826. the invention revolutionized visual communication, art, scientific inquiry, historical preservation, and even personal expression.

    micheal’s faradays discovery of electromagnetic induction in the early 1830’s laid a huge foundation for the development of the electric generators made in the mere future. in 1866, werner von siemans built the first “dynamo” which converted mechanical energy into electrical energy. the electric generator powered factories, illuminated cities, and helped machinery.

    the typewriter, made by Christopher Latham Sholes, was invented in the year 1868. this device basically revolutionized the way people worked with written language, it introduced a new standard in transcription. as businesses and corporations expanded, the typewriter quickly became a staple in the industrial revolution.

    alexander graham bell is often credited for the invention of the first practical telephone in 1876. the device could transmit sounds by using vibrations and turning them into electric signals, with these vibrations people and business alike had the ability to conversate and communicate across vast distances whenever needed.
