  • Smelting in Australia

    The first attempt of establishing iron and steel smelting in Australia took place in NSW near Mittagong. By 1877 the plant was considered non-economical and was closed.

  • Blast Furnaces

    A small blast furnace was built in 1875 and ran through until the 80s when it was then considered non-economical. Although 5 years later satisfactory production was achieved.

  • Production

    Australia established its first mining and steel production company.
