    Jethro Tull invented the seed drill in 1701. He learned about a agriculture as he traveled accross europe. Tull inherited land in england where he practiced his study of agriculture. Tull's seed drillsowed the seeds in perfect lines and covered them. Tull's first prototype was created out of the foot pedals of his church's organ.

    Farmers had to plant their crops by carrying a bag of seeds walking back and forth throwing out seed. They spread the seeds by hand tossing them out onto the plowed land. Throwing the seeds by hand didnt allow for the seeds to be spread out evenly spread out over the land and much of the seed was wasted. It worked but being hooked up to a horse, there was a wheel driven ratchet that sprayed the seed out onto the land and much more evenly. Jethro Tull was born in Basildon, Berkshire in 1674

    The Rotherham Plough was the first iron plough to be commericially sold in Europe, mixing the early design made by the Dutch with many new innovations. Its fittings and coulter were made of iron and the mouldboard and share were covered with an iron plate making it a lot more lighter which made it easier to pull.

    Viscount Townshend introuduced Crop rotiton. The rotation consisted of dividing your feild into 4 different produce, wheat being the first, clover in the second, oats or barley in the third and turnips or swedes. The problem with not roating the field is your level of nurtrients would go down over the years. With the four yeah system your feild got the rest they needed to produce good produce.

    The Enclosure Act was a right that a large village had. They would divied the land into strips of land for civilaction. The wastes were unproductive areas, fens, marshes, rocky land or moors are some examples. They had the right to pasture animals collect fire wood or otherwise benifit from that land.The Enclosure Acts were passed around 1750.

    Robert Bakewell and Thomas Coke came up with selevtive breeding to improve the quality of animals. Bakewell crossed different breeds of animals, which would come up with the best that amimal could be. This was found to be a very effective. In the year 1710 cows weight around 370 (lbs) and the sheep weight was around 28 (lbs) by the year 1795 cows weight was around 800(lbs) and the sheep weight was round 80(lbs).

    The plough was patented in 1730 it also got its name the as the Rothrham Swing Plough. The first time it was used outside the Rotherham land was in 1760. It was not the first iron plough but had sufficent methods which made it much easier to use. The plough was made at the Foljambe's factory.

Machinery was better than hand made clothes which took long to make and were much more exspensive. Francis Cabot Lowell set up the first American textile factory, it was in 1813.
