Railroad
A railroad is a permanent road laid with rails, commonly in one or more pairs of continuous lines forming a track which is used for communication. It changed the country because it allowed people to travel across the country faster, and allowed people to transport raw materials and goods more efficiently. It is still used today for the same purposes. -
Morse Code
A morse code is a method of sending text messages by keying in a series of electronic pulses. This changed the country because it paved the way for long distance communication and it is compared to as an early form of text messaging. Morse code is still used today in the military. -
Telephone
A telephone was created as a system used to send speech or data over distances that functions as the transmitter and receiver. This changed the country because it allowed for people to communicate with each other at anytime. The operator would listen to the conversation however, in order to disconnect the phone call once it was over. Telephones are still used today and now you can communicate with anybody anywhere in the world. -
Phonograph
The phonograph is a device used for the mechanical recording and reproduction of sound. It changed the country because now people could record themselves saying important messages instead of writing letters. Instead of using phonographs today people use their phones or recorders. -
Typewriter
A typewriter was a machine used for writing letters similar to those produced by printer's. The typewriter would strike a ribbon to transfer ink or carbon impressions onto the paper. This changed the country because now people could type letters and messages instead of handwriting them. It could have also cleared up confusions in un-legible handwriting. Instead of typewriters, we use computers today. -
Electricity
Electricity is the physical phenomena arising from the behavior of electrons and protons that is caused by the attraction of particles with opposite charges and the repulsion of particles with the same charge. It changed the country because it led the way for telegraphs along with many other inventions. It is still used today to power alliances along with many other things. -
Light Bulb
The light bulb is used to turn electricity into light by sending the electric current through a thin wire called a filament. Filaments are made up mostly of tungsten, a metal. It changed the country because people did not have to carry torches or a candle everywhere that they went, and it also made places more safe because it made them brighter so people could see their surroundings better. It is still used today for the same purposes. -
Iron Electric
An iron electric, also known as an iron is still used today. The purpose of an iron was to smooth the wrinkles in clothes. It is a roughly triangular surface that, when heated, is used to press clothes to remove creases. It is named for the metal of which the device was historically commonly made, and the use of it is generally called ironing -
Radio
The radio is the transmission and reception of electromagnetic waves of radio frequency, especially those carrying sound messages. It was used back then to listen to people speak. Radios are used to this day to listen to music.
