In the 1920s-1930s there were many sports going on in Canada such as hockey, lacrosse, baseball, rugby, football, and soccer. These sports were played almost entirely by men. Sports help lift the spirits of the nation after returning from the war. -

Later in the year, the Ottawa Senators brought home the Stanley Cup after winning 3-2 against the Seattle Metropolitans on April 1st, 1920. -

The Winnipeg Falcons won gold at the first Olympic hockey tournament on April 26, 1920. -

The first Canadian Football League or CFL East-West Grey Cup game took place on December 3rd, 1921 in Toronto with the Argonauts beating the Edmonton Eskimos 23-0. -

The Toronto St. Patricks won the Stanley Cup after beating the Vancouver Millionaires on March 28th, 1922. The Toronto St. Patricks were later named the Toronto Maple Leafs on September 14th, 1927 and featured a green maple leaf but the next year was changed to the signature blue. -

The Toronto Granite Club won an Olympic gold against the US in an aggressive game of hockey, which was evident after the number of injuries sustained by Canadian team members. Canada won 6-1 against the US, making this Canada's second Olympic gold medal. -

The 30th Boston marathon was won by Canadian Johnny Miles with a time of 2:25:04.4 on April 19th, 1926, setting the best record for many years. He ran the marathon three more times and won again in 1929. -

The Toronto Grads won gold in hockey at St. Mortiz. Realizing that Canada was superior to others in the game the officials made the decision to move Canada to the finals against Switzerland where they won on February 19th with the finals score being 13-0. -
Double Win
Percy Williams from Vancouver, BC wins the gold medal at the Olympics in Amsterdam on July 30th for 100m sprint and becomes the new fastest man on earth. Two days later he also wins gold for the 200m. -
Worldwide Runner
Fanny Rosenfeld won silver for Canada in the 100m sprint at the Olympics in Amsterdam on July 31st. She was later voted Canada's Female Athlete of the half-century by the Canadian Press in 1950. -

The Edmonton Grads a women's basketball team won against the Seattle Ferry Lines by 59 points over two games on March 27th, 1930. Winning the Underwood Trophy and the women’s international basketball title.
