    This marked the year Lillian Wald was born. She went on to become the founder of public health nursing. She established the Henry Street Settlement to aid the poor living in the slums of New York City.

    Linda Richards
    She was the first person to graduate from Nightingale's Training School for Nurses and became America's first trained nurse.
  • Mary Eliza Mahoney

    Mary Eliza Mahoney
    She began nurses training at the New England Hospital and graduated in August of 1879. She became the first African American Trained Nurse.

    This marks the day the founder of Planned Parenthood was born. Planned Parenthood was founded in 1986.

    This is the year she founded The American Red Cross. Barton also was a volunteer nurse in the Civil War

    Lavinia Dock
    Dock, with the assistance of Robb and Mary Adelaide Nutting, founded the American Society of superintendents of Training Schools for Nurses of the United States and Canada, which became the National League for Nursing.
