The first armed conflict of the War. The British succed in destroying supplies at Concord but suffer from a large number of casualties on the way back to Boston. This was a major propaganda victory for U.S. casualties: U.S.-95 people.

The British win the battle, but suffer losses of about 1000 casualties. 400 Americans were killed or wounded. 1/6 of all British officers killed in the War died here. This battle was the only battle in long seige of Boston. -

This was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. It showed the French that the U.S had some serious strength. General John Burgoyne surrenders 5800 men. -
The Battle of Charleston
The British gain control of South. 5000 Americans surrender. This marks the single largest loss of troops until the Philippines in 1942. -
The Battle of Cowpens
General Nathanael Greene divided his forces and defeated General Edward Cornwallis, who had a much larger army. -
The Battle of Yorktown
With 7800 French soldiers and the French fleet in the harbor, Washington accepts Cornwallis' surrender as major fighting ends.
