This battle officially started the revolutionary war. The British marched to Concord to seize weapons, and Paul Revere along with other Americans sounded the alarms. The British ended up retreating and losing this first battle. -
Bunker Hill
The British won this battle, but it served as a moral boost for the Americans. This was because they caused many British casualties. The American General Prescott proved to be wise in this battle by conserving ammunition when they were running low. -
Battle of Quebec
In this battle General Arnold led the Americans in an attempt to capture Quebec which was held by the British. They failed and General Montgomery lost his life. This was the first major loss for the Americans. -
Battle of Trenton
On Christmas, General Washington and his men crossed the Delaware to launch a surprise attack on the British who were tired and unprepared. This was a moral boost and gave unity to the Americans because they had minimal casualties while inflicting many on the British. -
Battle of Cowpens
General Morgan led the Americans and was really crafty in this battle. He used his wit to surprise the British in this battle and destroyed the British army led by General Tarleton. This proved the Americans could beat the British without luck on their side and the moral would lead to the win at Yorktown. -
Battle of Yorktown
General Washington led the Americans and French Continental troops to defeat General Cornwallis at Yorktown. Yorktown was the base of General Cornwallis, and after days of bombardment he surrendered. This was the most important battle because it was the last major battle and effectively ended the war.
