    The Opium Wars began because the British finally had something that China was wiling to trade for. The British were smuggling in opium (after the Chinese banded it from China). in exchange for silk, tea, and porcelain. As a result, the Chinese tried to stop the British smuggling in opium. Many wars later the Bitish clearly defeat the Chinese and the Treaty of Nanjing is created.
  • Sepoy Rebellion

    Sepoy Rebellion
    The Sepoy Rebellion was when the Sepoy rebelled against the British. The Sepoy were the Indian soldiers. The Inidian soldiers rebelled because the Britsih control in India was beginning to be to much. This revolt against the Britsh only lasted a year. A result of the Sepoy Rebellion was that the Parliament tightened control of India and also that the Codominance of East India ended.

    The British Raj was a group of British men that were formed in India. The British did positive and negative things for India. The positives were the British built India's economy. They made improvements to the roads, railways, telegraph lines, canals, and schools. The negative things were that the British tried to change the ways of the people. They forced the farmers to grow cotton instead of wheat.

    A secret Chinese Organization led a long needed uprising against the spread of Western Chinese and Japanese influences. The people who rebelled were referred to as boxers, because they performed physical exercises. The boxers besieged China's captal, until the American troops intervined. The boxers killed Chinese Christians and missionaries and destroyed railroads and churches. During the rebellion the Chinese government allowed to happen.

    The Open Door Policy is a policy that was created by the United States. The United States created this policy in order to lift the trading barriers that China had built. This policy resulted in opening Chinese trade to all nations.
  • Boer War

    The Boer War began between the British Empire and the Boers, which were Dutch Settlers. The Boer War began because the Boer blamed the British for political rights. Because of these Political Rights the Boers took arms against the British. This war ended in 1910 and the result was the British winning and joining the Boer republic into a self-governing.
  • Revolution of 1911

    Revolution of 1911
    The Revolution of 1911 occurred when the Chinese who desired a modern, independent republic rebelled against the Qingg dynasty and won. The result of this revolution changed China into a democracy.
