    Vikings were the first known Europeans to travel to America. Vikings came to make people slaves . They also came for money such as gold and silver.The Vikings came from present day Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. The vikings were raiders as they were traders. Viking women fought right beside there men and were valued members of society. The vikings followed a complex society based on a strong sense of moral values and honor. They also worshipped gods. Vikings stronlgy encouraged Europeans.

    Christopher Columbus believed that sailing west across the Atlantic Ocean was the shortest sea route to Asia. Columbus set sail with three small ships and a crew of eighty-seven men on August 2, 1492, and made landfall on October 12 on an island in the Bahamas that he called San Salvador.The earliest expedition brought Juan Ponce de León to the Florida peninsula in search of the mythical “Fountain of Youth” in 1513.

Most or these Germans came from the Rhineland area of Germany. 13 German famlies from a town called Krefeld arrived in America in 1863 on October 6th. They had arrived in Philadelphia. These very first German immigrants established a town or community called Germantown. These community is stil in existence.The very first paper mill ever mad in America was made by a german immigrant in Pennslyvania.

Because no one wanted people to find out about this.
